One of the things I enjoy about bookbinding is that it’s a never-ending learning experience. And that it’s both creative and precise, which lets me exercise both halves of my brain. There are countless varieties of bindings ~ historical to modern ~ from countries and cultures all over the world. I start by learning as much as I can about a particular binding, then I start riffing ~ putting my own spin on things. I also enjoy creating custom bindings ~ finding just the right materials and format to suit the recipient and purpose of the book. Here are some of my favorites.
